On colors of stainless-steel surfaces polished with magnetic abrasives

نویسندگان

چکیده

Multiple colors visible to the naked eye across internal surfaces of stainless-steel 304 tubes polished with a magnetic abrasive finishing (MAF) process were investigated at varying levels magnification. The found result from microscopic colored features four different hues — green, blue, red, and yellow having irregular sizes shapes. Spectral analysis their dispersion indicates that these appear along lay marks generated during MAF. Surface characterization employing energy dispersive spectroscopy instrumented indentation testing presence films non-stochiometric chromium oxide nickel in regions. Variations momentum density particles interacting surface MAF process, together chemical composition morphology surface, provide thermodynamic conditions favorable for non-uniform growth oxides film. Local color is dependent on local thickness

Adsorption of Proteins on Stainless Steel Surfaces

Understanding adsorption phenomena on stainless steel surfaces is of important because stainless steel is widely used from food and dairy to pharmaceutical industries. Protein adsorption and fouling undermines the efficiency of stainless steel process equipments and leads to an increase in operational costs due to regular cleaning. For this reason, adsorption of milk proteins on stainless steel...

Magnetic Properties of Metastable 304 Stainless Steel with Bcc Structure

Ordinary 304 stainless steel has a fcc structure and is non-magnetic at room temperature. By using a vapor quenching method, we have fabricated single-phase metastable bcc 304 stainless steel which is strongly ferromagnetic with a magnetization of 130 emu/g and a Curie temperature in excess of 550 OC. Upon subsequent annealing above 550 OC, the metastable bcc state transforms back into the usua...

Topographical Anisotropy and Wetting of Ground Stainless Steel Surfaces

Microscopic and physico-chemical methods were used for a comprehensive surface characterization of different mechanically modified stainless steel surfaces. The surfaces were analyzed using high-resolution confocal microscopy, resulting in detailed information about the topographic properties. In addition, static water contact angle measurements were carried out to characterize the surface hete...

Compressibility of 304 Stainless Steel Powder Metallurgy Materials Reinforced with 304 Short Stainless Steel Fibers

Powder metallurgy (P/M) technique is usually used for manufacturing porous metal materials. However, some P/M materials are limitedly used in engineering for their performance deficiency. A novel 304 stainless steel P/M material was produced by a solid-state sintering of 304 stainless steel powders and 304 short stainless steel fibers, which were alternately laid in layers according to mass rat...

Electrochemical deprotonation of phosphate on stainless steel

Voltammetric experiments performed in phosphate buffer at constant pH 8.0 on platinum and stainless steel revealed clear reduction currents, which were correlated to the concentrations of phosphate. On the basis of the reactions proposed previously, a model was elaborated, assuming that both H2PO4 and HPO4 2 underwent cathodic deprotonation, and including the acid–base equilibriums. A kinetic m...
